Hi, I’m Sage.

You’re here because you want to know more about me and about Bookish Bitch. So here goes the bit about me: I’m a 40-something based in Pennsylvania, USA. Bookish Bitch was started because I enjoy reading, wanted to do more of it, and thought blogging would be a way to hold myself accountable. I would describe myself as a slow reader – which would explain why my posts can sometimes feel few and far between. My goal is to make reading more of a habit in my life.

Yes, The Blog Is Called Bookish Bitch.

I’ve written a bit about the decision behind the name, but the TLDR is that I wanted a two word name that incorporated something about books or reading, and I really miss Bitch Magazine.

What Do You Like To Read

My goal is to focus primarily on books written by authors who aren’t cis dudes.

There are a number of reasons why books by authors with these identities are important to me.

  1. As someone who identifies with this group of people, it’s important to me to uplift these voices as much as possible. Even on my small platform.
  2. Studies have shown that reading fiction has the power to increase empathy. Even readers who don’t hold the above identities can come out of the experience gaining insight into the experience of these communities.
  3. Reading non-fiction has the obvious benefits of increasing knowledge.
  4. I believe that we still have a ways to go in terms of acceptance. I hope to highlight books that can help move us in that direction.

A History of Bookish Bitch

(In Timeline Form)

January, 2024 – The very first post appears on Bookish Bitch.

March, 2024 – The last post appears on Bookish Bitch before a multi-month hiatus.

January, 2025 – Bookish Bitch returns.

February, 2025 – I decide to try out themed reading to see how it feels.

June, 2025 – I decide to sign up for NetGalley, and my first NetGalley review appears.

The Future Of Bookish Bitch

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t care if nobody read my blog. I’d love it if you read Bookish Bitch. But I also recognize that I’m an inconsistent poster and I’m not always reading the newest releases. My goal for the next year (or more) is to work on reading more and posting on a consistent basis.
